Parametric pattern drafting

    Hi dhemberg ,

    Thanks for your question, for the moment parametric pattern drafting is not available in CLO. We have a few tools that are going into that direction but not as advanced as you described(auto grading, styleline tools/3D llinked editing).

    Nonetheless, this is an interesting feature request that I will forward to our development team.

    Thanks for your input!

    Hi there again;

    I notice that recent versions of Clo include something that seems tantalizingly close to this idea I asked about around a year ago. Neat!

    Is it possible to create custom parametric patterns, like I describe above in my previous post? It seems like there's not really a UI to do this yet, nor do I see an obvious way to turn an existing drafted pattern into a parametric one, but is it possible to get into the 'guts' of the Parametric Pattern menu item to modify what measurements the UI accepts, and what gets output by the tool? I'm fairly scrappy so happy to noodle around with JSON/XML or whatever format the current tool might use, or if there's a beta version of this tool that might allow me to tinker with it I would be delighted to test, if that's an option?

    Thank you!

    Hi. Yes we added Parametric Pattern for our 7.0 release last year and have expanded on it for the 7.1 release.

    Once you have Parametric Pattern open you can put in whatever measurements you would like. You can also now create excel sheet to bring measurement in. I would recommend watching our most recent webinar to see HERE. The Parametric pattern portion starts at the 43:30 mark.

    Hi, thank you - unfortunately, though, this isn't exactly what I'm asking. I understand that I can modify some parameters in the Parametric Pattern window, and auto-generate a pattern based on these. But what if I'm not interested in this particular set of parameters, or using them to create this one specific type of garment?

    What I'd like to be able to do is:

    • specify my own parameters, rather than use the ones provided in this window. Maybe I want a parameter named "elbow_angle" or "tail_length" or "pocket_roundness" or some other arbitrary parameter...can I create and specify these myself?
    • Control what actually gets output by this window. Maybe I want a different type of sleeve, or a completely different garment altogether.

    I would like to create a parameter set that describes a bag, or a tool holder, or whatever, and then design a custom pattern that's 'driven' by these parameters.  Is this possible currently? If not, is it on Clo's product roadmap?

    I see!

    While you cannot currently do that we are most definitely looking to keep on expanding this tool in future versions

    Hello everyone, It's Rose Wille and I thought I should share some cool things about the Parametric Pattern tool in clo 3d. I manage to use it to create skirt/pant patterns so much easier compared to starting from scratch. For more info, please see these video links. I hope this help. 1) how to make skirt patterns: https://youtu.be/-8najYYF_iI 2) how to make pant patterns: https://youtu.be/G9PrBkBNVhc
