Working with unusual materials

    Hi narabanisf,

I think rigid material are easier to simulate in other programs.

I recently made a bag using a rigid fabric setup that works pretty well.( if you want have a look to it on my Instagram justme3d)

If you want to try this material setup look at the value in the picture.

I'm looking forward to see your result.

    Have a nice day.

    Daniele

Vray (the render engine) can handle the range of product design ,materials better than it can handle fabrics or textiles. Basically the vray shader system is geared to hard surface product modelling - so from that perspective you get most of that capability out of the box with vray in terms of surface only render simulation.

Thank you danielemanassero for sharing. Will definitely give it a try. I might use the most rigid fabric available in the library and apply your suggested settings to them to see what happens.

The bag looks very rigid. I really want to simulate the shapes on the body to get the measurement rights, Ultimately I could get the patterns and replace by other materials in real time.

ottoline Thank you for the detailed information. 2 questions for you:

    - you say "When we make 3D printed mesh for a garment we model it in MD/CLO3D 1st as a guide surface but carry out the generation of the complex mesh in node based modelling systems where you can assign parametric models into the CLO3D mesh. (Quite simple to do)." understood but what material/fabric do you use in clothes to to build your garment in Clo so that the mesh model later is translated properly to the body. Any design depends on the type of fabrics you are using and the construction details will change accordingly.

    - you mention " yes any material is possible on a cloth pattern you simulate in CLO3D." What do you mean by "Cloth pattern"?

    Thank you

Your ref: " what material/fabric do you use in clothes to to build your garment in Clo so that the mesh model later is translated properly to the body. Any design depends on the type of fabrics you are using and the construction details will change accordingly. "

Check out the last 2 links in my previous post. the choices are many and so are the process flows - it depends what end material you are making your printed garment in, they all have different characteristics. However they are all discussed in detail on those two industry portals.  ( N-e-r-v-o-u-s + Fab )
