Issues with adding a zipper into card holder- HELP!

Hi!

I am having a few issues with adding a zipper into a card holder. 

As you can see, the zipper can't be added nicely as there are a few layers on one side of the card holder (where all the credit cards are placed) . I have added my patterns below:

Is there a way to do this correctly or is there a better way to add a zipper like this?

  hi alexloz If you want to use the actual zipper tool, try increasing the width of the zipper. If you do not need/want the actual zipper, create a pattern piece for the zipper and place the Puller/Slider on as Trim.

  Thank you! It didn't make much difference so Ill have to create one manually. 

  One last question- how can I achieve a top stitch effect like below?

   

  I've watched a few videos but this doesn't seem to be covered? Any suggestions?

  Alex, you should use a strip of fabric and as the zipper and not the zipper tool. You can add the stitches as 3D objects and increase the thickness of the stitch to something like 80 or 100 TEX. See below:
