problem with Skirt design

To create the ribbing in the same orientation as the photo you show you need to use a straight pattern (ribbed red) sewn to the brown cable knit and not a curved pattern piece. You also need to add in displacement maps for all the knit that match the diffuse and normals for the knit textures. This is pretty easy to do if you have a knit texture node as you can simply create these in mid grey scale (125 value) and then apply a base color to the shader to get all the other resultant maps. I have been simulating all my production knitwear this way for 7+ years. Very quick to achieve.

There is also a library of knit stitch patterns (5,000) that allow you to pick up any stitch type as a computer simulation and apply that into a pattern piece layout, or if you have simple simulation software you can use that, however these days you can do that in almost any good texture application.

Don't place a vertical rib on a curved pattern piece.  Keep the rib knit portion of your flat texture as a straight inline texture on a straight pattern piece and then sew that to the curve in the mating pattern piece, then the texture will be correct as it curves along that edge of the pattern piece.

For the fabric physical preset use one of the many knit presets that are in the CLO3D fabric library, you can download these.

    Hi ottoline

Could you tell me where I can find the library of simulated knit stitch patterns? There aren't many knitted textures in the Clo3D library. But I just downloaded the software so maybe I haven't found all of them yet.

    Thanks
