Pushing fabric up over a sash
Hey all, I'm trying to get a kimono style top to push out (muffin top?) over the waist sash. I can kind of it get by creating an invisible strap and sizing it exactly to the waist with elastic turned on. That kind of makes it start to ride up the body though.
The back drapes exactly how I want it. I noticed all closed tops will create that muffin top over the sash but once I open it up to more kimono style the front falls flat.
I'm not sure if it's an issue with my patterns or more of technical issue in clo. I've rieed adding tons of width to the patter, elastic with ration of 100, but it still falls flat. Thanks in advance.

Dear janglesworthy, it is a bit hard to tell what might be going on without any visuals, would it be possible to post screenshots of what you are referring to? Thank you!

Hopefully this makes more sense. I know the source material is nerdy and dismissive at first, but I think it's a cool design and not easy to pull off in Clo for me so far. The sash/skirt/collar are place holders while I try and figure the correct techniques to use for getting the tunic drape correct.

Dear janglesworthy, don't worry about the outfit, I think you will find many people with nerdy interests around here and scifi has been influential on real world fashions (e.g. Blade Runner) :)
Sash riding up: Even if sized to your avatar's measurements, the avatar might still have Skin Offset applied, which altogether gives it a wider measurement. If you go down with the Skin Offset, does the sash behave more as it should? https://support.clo3d.com/hc/en-us/articles/115002227387--Property-Avatar-Skin-Offset-Setting-
Opening up the kimono for it to fall with more volume: Have you tried pulling the pieces out to the side more to give more airiness? It looks as if the front is sitting tightly pulled onto either side of the avatar.

Hello and thank you for the reply. Yes I do have skin offset set to 0 while working on this. Looking at my reference I do have the top tunic pulled to far over, it looks like it overlaps on the center line about 1 inch above the nipple.
I'm not sure what the best technique would be for overlapping the tunic and holding it in place. Stitch the waste line to each other? Make an internal line going vertical and stitching that to each other? I did find some reference of the movie tunic opened up but I'm still new to pattern drafting so breaking it down for Clo is a little a bit of a challenge. For example the internal waste band, does that really need to exist in Clo? I've got the shoulder tuck sorted out and the rig for it, it's just the waste I need to sort out now.
I'm also not sure if the below marked out images are creating gathers on the waste?

For creating those tucks/pleats at the waist band adding in an Internal waist band to sew them closed too may help you to achieve the look. But also you could possibly use the tack tool as well. The internal waistband will help to hold the waist closed and tight.
When trying to create exact replicas like above the closer you can stay to the True IRL pattern the better.

Thank you, I'll give it a go. Will the direction of the bands normal effect it trying to pop out on top of the tunic at all?
