intersection seams allowance
Hi everyone, I have some issue with the seam allowance intersection; I'm a pattern maker and when I draw seams allowance around the pattern, I use to have it precisely overlapping in all the intersection point, but it is hard with clo , or I don't know how to do it right with the programme.
h
how you can see I overlapped the two panel to "simulate" the process of sewing under the sewing machine, and I can't have the seams of the same length.
I hope I explane my problem clear enugh
does anyone have some advaise? I arleady tried to change voices in the intersection menu in the seams allowance tool window.
thanks

I'm not completely sure what you mean by intersecting the seam allowance. In CLO you don't need seam allowances. To check for the seam length you can use the walk pattern tool.

Ho Pablo,
I know that there is the walk pattern to check the lenght of the seams, and also I can understand the you don't need them for the simulation; but I would like to sew the garment in the real life, in fabric, for that reason I need seams allowance that are perfectly matching; as you can see in the picture above, the seams that I added are not perfectly the same lenght, even if I have the pattern correct.
thanks

Good you know that. The segments can be made of the same length when fine tuning by right clicking on a segment and use Change Length. I can't derive from the image which seams you are talking about. Maybe another image and pointing out what is the difference can help us see it.

in the red circle the seam allowance that I put aren't matching and that could be a problem when I sew the "real" garment

Are those seam allowances added in CLO or somewhere else? They look like baselines imported into CLO. In any case there are not much seam allowance tweaking tools in CLO. My recommendation here would be to increase the seam allowance of the bottom piece (50.7 segment) to reach the top seam allowance. I don't think you could make the top seam allowance match the bottom one.

Hi everyone,
I'm very interested by this subject because I have exactly the same problem. I have to send patterns files with seam allowance included and using the intersection tool it's impossible to make match the two angles ( I can't find the name in English ) on the back seam of the two piece sleeve.I've tried all the different angles configuration on each seam and the first image is the best I could have which is not good for the cutting and sewing in a factory. The segments are exactly the same length ( I walked the pattern ). Is there any way two fi this issue ? I have to send this files very soon...I hope someone could help.
Thank you
Cédric

Cédric, I believe this is a limitation of the seam allowance tool in CLO. I couldn't find a way to manipulate the seam allowance itself, but only the stitch line. I have to refer you to an external CAD software to do just that and export from there. I personally use share.padsystem.com in case you find it useful.
