problem with drawing lines on Avatar
Hi. I'm trying to draw lines on the avatar (windows 10) with the 3d pen (avatar). I can draw individual lines but unfortunately when I draw a line made up of multiple segments I cannot finish the line by double clicking, I just continue to get an extra line. I've tried altering the double click settings in Windows and even tried different mice to no avail. Can anyone offer some advice? Thanks

When you are drawing your line you generally double click on the last point to terminate the operation (mouse) but unless your pen is set to 3 button mouse that can be a problem, however you can also just hit the enter key to terminate the line. You can also change the way the mouse/pen works in the user settings and also assign another keyboard shortcut to something you are more familiar with - eg: I set mine to my modo setup.

Hi ottoline, thanks for the reply. unfortunately I've tried all of this. I'm using a three button mouse (I've tied a few different mice). I've set the mouse to three buttons in the settings. I've tried double clicking on the last point, this just adds another point. I've tried hitting the enter key, this does nothing. I've gone through all the settings I can find to no effect. I'm not exactly a newbie to 3D CAD software, I regularly use Blender and AutoCAD but this has got me stumped.

The other Issue I seem to have is If I draw a segmented line I can sometimes finish it by clicking on the first point but then if I select edit line (Avatar) Not all the segments or points can be selected or edited, they just wont highlight when I hover over them or click on them. I'm wondering if the lines and points are somehow below the surface of the model and therefore not recognized. This is getting really frustrating.

Hi jemcrook
Did you find a solution to this problem? I'm having the same issue... Many thanks!

Hi btina, sorry to hear that you've had similar problem. The conclusion I came to in the end was that Clo3D needs a high spec computer to run on. I think the software was missing my mouse clicks. i was using my home laptop to run Clo and I think it was just not powerful enough. I'm due to give it a try on a more powerful machine in the next few weeks so I'll let you know if its any different. Other than that I really don't have a clue. I'm a bit surprised that no one else has offered any suggestions, compared to the forums that I belong to for other software like Blender this one seems very quiet. all the best, stay safe.

No CLO3D can run on a reasonably priced 'medium to upper' price spec computer with a decent graphics card.
See hardware refs: CLO-system-requirements-July-2020
When you lay a point, wait a moment as the algorithm is performing a hull calculation on the surface of the avatar, so let it catch up to your hand/mouse movements, and if you have other apps open (video tutorials) at the same time your CPU may be over resourced if you have not set the CLO3D app to have OS priority for the CPU (operating system - for windows) over other apps when using the CPU cores. (you can also set how many cores you allocate to any application) So you might want to shut down any other apps temporarily when doing an maths intensive task in CLO3D or adjust your operating system to recognize CLO3D over other apps you have open - otherwise it may run slow if resources are not all allocated to it when it is doing the math. In windows you can set any app to have priority over another app, which is important to do for workstations in CG where you need to balance out resources on the CPU so if you watch videos whilst doing cloth collision - recognize that is maybe a lot of CPU activity being split between 2 apps, so prioritize within your system which app gets the CPU resources 1st (eg: application affinity + application priority) should be set to CLO3D 1st so that it has priority over other apps when in a work session.

If you are creating a line on the avatar (single open poly shape line) to terminate that set of points you can double click - if you are joining to another line or closing a shape you don't need to double click. You cannot draw a line over (bisect) another line. And there are two line point types a curve and an corner line point. You can also place constraints on line type (straight) and edit to add or remove points. And then there are also drafting assistance with the shift key for ray lines so there are a quite a few features to explore in this toolset. You can also change how your 3 button mouse works from the user settings area > you can change the button mode for example to suit how you work with other more familiar apps, so you may need to look at that and maybe change to a key/mouse mode you prefer.
The tool works very well, and I think if you follow through with some of the OS issues I mention and change the mouse setup in user settings and maybe watch the video below on how to use the tool you should get back on track. Hope that helps.
