Buckle and strap
Hi,
I am looking to feed a strap through a buckle, I have been using the select mesh tool.
The buckle is imported as an avatar with 0.5 skin offset
The particle distance for the strap material is 5
However it just crashed like in the photo.
any help would be massively appreciated!

Hi jennyd, try to keep the thickness collission value around 5 or higher , simulate an when the simulation is stable lower that value step by step.
Maybe the skin off set is too low when simulating.
I got an advise from a poweruser that fabric with lower stretch value are better for these details.

Hi Jenny!
This is definitely a tricky one. I agree with Daniele. I see in the last result image you show, that the particle distance of 5.0 mm is not allowing the strap to fold correctly. Try reducing the particle distance and see what happens.
If that doesn't work I think that the first image you sent looks clean enough to freeze it or pin it as it is. My suggestion is to leave this step to the very last, just like with stitches, trims, etc. This way when you simulate or change the particle distance, the pins or trims don't move too much.
So, when everything else looks good, you can use the Select Mesh tool and feed through the buckle like your first image, and freeze.

You can keep a buckle in place if you set the strap to respond to the glue (buckle) surface normal's.
Off set 4 internal lines (or more) to suit your buckle threading. Switch the strap to quad mesh can be left at particle distance 10mm if you want. Then adjust each internal line so it's fold strength and angle creates a 'hump' over your buckle bar. You can switch off fold rendering if you want. Next 'GLUE' the buckle to the strap 'hump' rear by selecting the cross bar of the buckle in the middle and moving it to the flat portion of the hump. As you guide the buckle around the straps 'hump' it will flick to the surface normal. You can further stop this and then use the manual gizmo (by double clicking the buckle) to reposition it. Now adjust the cloth strap fold angles and buckle glue point to get it just right. You can also right click on the buckle and unglue it if you get into a mess.
It is quite robust - you can release the bend angles to give a nice fit once you have it posed in position for your final arrangement.

Recently, i did a process very similar to yours..I did the accessory in CLO, just like any other pattern.
Then i export like a obj, and import the obj another time into CLO.
Just like that.
And then, i do the insert of belt and buckle.
In this process you had to be carefull to you fabric properties.
This values are from belt fabric.
Hope to be helpfull with my explanation.

Oliveira Daniela, I am trying to learn now to feed/insert the belt through the loop like in your picture. Do you perhaps have the instruction for it or any helpful video tutorials you've used before to achieved this result? Thanks!

Hello jiaqian,
I did withought any help because it's very easy.
you just have to be careful with the properties of the materials and obj.
And use the numbers of layers, this with help to put belt into the loop. ex: my first layer is the pattern of trouser, than second the belt pattern and finally the third one is the look.
in this images I will mark in the picture the properties you have to be careful. you have to balance the values of your friction coefficient to material of the loop, the material of the belt and of the buckle.
