    Hi jesusclo3d,

The option appears upon selection of one of the following presets:

If you want to use a different resolution, select one of the presets first and then input that resolution into width and height.

Sad to see that the customizable “Resolution (ppi)” functionality is no longer supported in newer CLO versions. It was a highly practical feature that allowed users to directly define the desired PPI or DPI for rendered images, making it easy to control output size and quality without needing additional post-processing in external software. For those working with print or cross-media formats, this was a valuable time-saver and provided greater control over the final result.

To clarify why this feature was so useful, it helps to understand the difference between image dimensions in pixels and image resolution (ppi):

    • Width and Height in pixels refer to the actual number of pixels that make up the image — for example, an image sized at 3000 × 2000 pixels holds that many pixels horizontally and vertically. This defines the image’s detail level, but not how large it will appear physically.

    • Resolution (ppi – pixels per inch) determines how densely those pixels are packed when the image is displayed or printed. For instance, an image at 3000 × 2000 pixels will print at 10" × 6.67" if the resolution is 300 ppi. Change that to 150 ppi, and the same image will print at 20" × 13.33", but with lower sharpness.

In short, pixels define the content, and ppi defines the scale and clarity when printed — which is exactly why having control over ppi directly in CLO’s render settings was so valuable.

    Hi,

    Thanks for your post.

new community forum has been launched. Since the current community forum has ended (only available for checking the archived posts), we recommend posting in the new community where external users or internal members will reply to your question.

But also to answer your question. PPI is still available if you choose an image size like tabloid, letter, etc.

The PPI had nothing to do with controlling the pixel resolution of an image if you chose a pixel size like 1920x1080 but it was being exposed as a UI, which we thought was leading to misuse, so we decided to remove it since the CLO v7.3
