GPU SIMULATION: CPU 100% - GPU 4%
Hi!
I have bought a new computer with these characteristics:
Operating System Microsoft Windows 10 Home 64-Bit
Processor Description AMD Ryzen 9 3950X 16-Core Processor, 3493MHz
Total Memory 32768MB
Total Hard Drive 3.66TB
MSI GeForce RTX 2080 Ti Gaming X Trio
11GB GDDR6
G.Skill Trident Z Neo RGB DDR4 3600
32GB 2x16 CL16
Asus TUF X570-Plus (Wi-fi)
Adata XPG Gammix S11 Pro 1TB M.2 2280
PCIe SSD
I only have CLO installed and when I work I don't run any other programs.
When I run the GPU simulation, the CPU goes up to 100% but the GPU has never reached more than 14%.
When I render, GPU and CPU do not go up more than 12%
It is normal?
Is there a way to configure my computer to perform much better?
Thank you !

Hey obusiguin. The normal simulation is done by the CPU, if you'd like to simulate with GPU, then you need to press and hold the simulation button and select Simulate GPU.
Be aware the there are differences when using one or the other. Definitely GPU will be faster but a bit more unstable when layering or folding seams or internal lines.

Hi Pablo,
My problem is that when I push : simulate GPU the simulation goes well but only use 12% of GPU and 100% of CPU.

Any member of CLO can help me?

Obusiguin, I'm sorry that I'm not meeting your expectation as to being a CLO employee, nonetheless I do have extensive experience with the subject. Maybe someone from the CLO team will reply. Meanwhile, read the chain below. I don't think you will make a 2080 card go to 100% when simulating. There's no need for such power.

Hi Pablo!!
I didn't mean to offend you. I just think I'm making some wrong adjustments.
I don't want to get the GPU to 100% but I don't quite understand why it keeps such a low percentage while the CPU is at the limit.
In the render, the GPU doesn't go up either. I do not understand anything.
I invested in this computer to work faster and I see that my effort has not been worth anything:(
Thank for the link, i will read ir now!

I have the same issue. And it feels like a problem to me too, because clo3d works super slow. Please advise where to pick exactly when I want my CPU to be exonerated and to put more force on the GPU.
It is a pity how often people here are misunderstood.

Using FAST GPU, as it often is recommended, does not seam to be a good option for me!
It makes for example a nervous blowing in the wind story with my silk jersey dress with 3% additional shrinkage in weft and warp, which gets trapped or sticky to whatever comes in the way (like shoes)

Using Fast GPU can be great for building. But you will NOT get accurate fabric with it. Once your garment is built you should switch to Normal or Fitting.
Are you using the wind tool in 3D? When using wind it is very similar to animation. Taking pattern pieces from hi res of 5 to an increase of 8 for better speed. You can also increase the Skin offset of the shoes so there is more of a barrier and the garment does not get stuck
Also I see you have layering turned on for pattern pieces. You should NOT leave this on bast basic simulation. Instead once the pattern piece is in place use the Sublayer tool

Okay Thanx. I try that.
It is not necessarily a sublayer, it is just a volant inserted in the seams.
And I of course use no wind-machine the fabric is just super bouncy, against all logic and gravity.

When one longer sup-panel fluently runs over several pattern pieces. How do I apply than with that technique. It seems to be an issue.
Before with layering:
Waiting Since hours, just getting worst with sublayer:

Hi kuoture,
There is no need to leave simulation on "for hours". Once the simulation is stable and any changes made have been translated, it can be turned off, also to not unnecessarily stress the computer.
It was suggested to use Set Sublayer as there was layering applied. Now that you've explained the purpose, it appears that neither is needed, and the issue is more likely related to unstable simulation. Please try out how this project reacts after the Nvidia settings have been changed (as described in the other active thread).
On another note, it is recommended to build garments in the default fabric for simulation and then only change the fabric in one of the last steps when finalizing a project.

Hi.
Unfortunately, it was necessary because the seam allowance outwards (look) always collapse behind the shell fabric, what they were not meant to do. They were supposed to be on top, what they denied doing until the end. (in all states).
I know when to use the tools correctly. What annoys me though is, that creating a design takes maybe 2 hours, sewing a design a reasonable 1 hour. But at the last step (the 20% to make it perfect) when I apply, fabric, poses, styling and high resolution etc. everything starts to collaps. To get a good image, shot, or share able look takes always ages, because the computer strikes in doing any step, even simple ones like changing a window.
If you could help to teach how to avoid that and get a better workflow, I would be greatful.

Hi kuoture,
It should likely not be necessary if simulation is stable—we can see from another thread you were now able to set CLO to using GPU on high performance, please get back to us if the issues persist. The problems you are facing are unusual (even if you are finding similar threads here, these are unusual occurrences that the overwhelming majority of users do not experience), so we can only go step by step to rule out what can be causing them. Thank you.
