Have big gap when use Layer Clone Over
Hi
When I use Layer Clone Over feature, they will make the big gap as below:
Then I need to delete sewing then sew again:
It will cost the time if I sew again and again.
What should I do?
Thank

Hello travisnguyen Have a look at the attached image. I did the following;
- Reduced the Collision Thickness between all the pattern pieces.
- Selected the Layer Clone Layers with Edit Sewing and applied TURNED for the Sewing Line Type
- Selected ALL sewing and removed intensity of the 3D Sewing effect
- Changed the Physical Properties of Fabric 1 to match Leather Lambskin [so they would have the same thickness.
- Selected all layers and removed Curved Side Geometry
- Turned off the Seamlines [in the garment options in the 3D toggle menu]
- Removed all Pressure
- Used Fitting Simulation
Because you have Layer Clones, which are sewn to the under layer, you will not get flat/smooth connections. IF you physically had one entire layer of the whole thing inside the other, you could get smooth seams.
Hope this helps...

Dear travisnguyen,
When using Layer Clones, the created seamline is automatically set to Sewing Line Type: Turned, as usually, the pattern pieces will come together lying flat on top of each other. In the case of this project, this is not desired and the pattern pieces' edges visually continue into each other without an angle. The turned seamline erroneously appears as a gap.
--> After cloning a layer, you can select the seamline and set it to Custom Angle without having to replace the seamline:

Thank
It worked

Great! :) The fold angle should ideally be set to 180° which would indicate no folding at all. 360° will make the front sides of the pieces move against each other if they are able to. (Here probably not visible because one piece is frozen and the other is the same size and doesn't have room to display folding behavior.)

Hi
When I use Layer Clone Over, it will make big recess as picture below. How can I reduce this affect recess? (I want to make sewing effect flat)
Thank you

Hi travisnguyen
First is always to check the sewing for this. But also is there any pressure applied to pattern pieces?

Please check attached file and give advice for this case. I hope that the sewing on top look flat.
Thank a lot

Hi travisnguyen,
Additional Thickness - Collision is like an air buffer in between pattern pieces. If you lower it, the pattern pieces will come nearer to each other and the indentation you wish to avoid will become less apparent. Note that lowering all the way down to 0 can be tricky and cause collision issues, therefore I first tried with 0,5 here.
