Replicating iridescent sequins

Best to not use vray for this as you need to tweak the shader node to work from the light source to camera angle viewing plane, and you cannot do that in CLO3D as vray is basically locked on the shader construction side. You need to combine two effects (the basic normal angle of the light off the sequin and the shader iridescence (relative to the camera viewing plane).

Two easy ways to achieve a controlled look on the shader for the sequin texture (based on the sequin normal angle)  > using the cycles external render engine.

    Video shader 1

    Video shader 2

When I digitize my sequins I also save out the custom normal orientation and then place linear randomness the  string of sequins so it shimmers according to the grain of the row of sequins, so getting that level of realistic render control means you need to maybe dump the simple vray and either jump to full vray external or use another render engine for a great result. If you apply a particle node and geometry node to a handful of sequin models in Blender you can control every aspect of the sequin including the iridescence, flow and string.

Which gives you the ultimate 'shimmer' control.
