creating trims with curvature
Hi everyone, I am trying to create a trim in CLO based on a real garment. I want it to be able to follow along a curved path. Here's a picture of the trim I'm trying to create.
I created a tiling png of a section of this with transparency:
I thought the way to do this in CLO would be to create a topstitch, use the png file I created for the texture, and then it would warp to follow the path that the topstitch goes along. But instead this happens:
Clearly this is not the correct way to do it.
Does anyone have any recommendations how to achieve what I'm looking for?

That technically works I guess, but it's a lot of extra work and it requires new pattern pieces which will change the simulation. I've found that doing separate pieces for edge trims really messes up the simulation at particle distance 20.
Example: (this was behaving well in the simulation before adding the extra pieces. Setting a low PD for the trim and keeping the main garment at 20 doesn't work either because then the lines don't match up)
