Trying to create a latex material type

CLO3D simulates woven warp/weft fabrics so latex is generally a thin extruded sheet material, with a huge range of possible thicknesses and flex. So in this instance you really need to dive into a custom made material preset and appreciate it's unlikely to give you a material preset that is accurate as these are fundamentally different physical domain spaces.(woven yarn verse extruded latex)

If you do have a sample it can be tested in the emulator workspace using some simple values and specs. I showed in a previous post how you can forego the costly CLO3D emulator hardware for the occasional fabric physical preset and use a few simple household tools (digital scales and luggage pull (weight) scale as a force meter) to get the input data for any (fabric) sample you have to hand. Works with about 90-95% accuracy on woven (yarn) materials as a simple technique done in a few minutes.

See my example for an approximate  TPU laminated sheet like fabric sample that I tested whilst in covid lockdown using these simple tools - worked a treat and was quite accurate to the drape sample I had to hand.

How to measure a custom fabric using a dictionary, digital kitchen scales, and a luggage weight $9 (force meter), with accuracy.

I might do a follow up post to that old approach which shows the fabric physical testing process step by step with maybe a simple wooden jig I designed, to make this a little faster - handy as it's easy to transport in your pocket. Something anyone can knock up at home in a couple of hours and use. Or just try my original approach which require no tools apart from a few handy home nix-knacks and is strangely highly accurate, when I compared it to my very costly testing hardware - which surprised me. So hush, hush.

Hi, I am trying to do the same..were you able to find out the latex physical properties? Desperately looking for it anywhere online. I somehow can't guess it right. I have seen so many pictures of virtual latex dresses out there. All those people figured out things like the amount of stretch, stiffness, and so on..by themselves? wow

    Hi there!

The zfab fabric is formed by (1) texture appearance & (2) Physical Properties. The Physical Properties affect how the fabric drape, bend, and stretch, etc.

Actually, we don't recommend users to change the Physical Properties by themselves as it may affect the accuracy (especially for real production). We usually use a device to digitize the fabric data and put it in the Physical Properties.

Here are 2 suggestions for your case:

    1. You can access CLOSET CONNECT Store (https://connect.clo-set.com/store/fabric) and download the related fabric directly. Here are some examples:

     2. In CLO Library > Fabric > review the fabric while putting your mouse on it for a few sec > choose a zfab that looks like latex drape > apply on your garment > edit the fabric texture appearance, such as applying the plastic effect > then you can get the similar result.
