I recommend the GRAFIS system, where you can attach pattern names to a line of the pattern piece and grade it in size. Maybe you sneak there for a solution.

Maybe try a form which is partly connected to the outer line of the main pattern piece. Like a hem facing or a front facing with buttonholes.
