Grading .rul not importing with pattern

Hi, I've imported a .DXF pattern into Clo - in the same folder I have the .RUL file. Named exactly the same, apart from the end file format. 

But I can't see the grading in the 2D window - there is a list under the grading in the object browser with all the sizes.

  Grading will only be visible in the 2D window when one of the grading tools is active:

  Thanks for the quick reply! I've just done that, but still I can't see anything and nothing changes.

  Does the pattern change at all when switching the base size in the Object Browser? The data in the Property Editor is empty, as if no grading has been done at all. In which program did you grade? The rule file doesn't seem to contain data.

  no it doesn't change at all and it isn't my file actually. Maybe the grade file doesn't actually have data then! I can't open it to check though, I think it's a Gerber file. Can I stitch the garment and add the .rul file later? Or do I need the .rul file before I stitch the garment?
