It would be really great if the drafting tools could be made to simplify a few task, particularly if creating patterns with complex curves.

-) A smooth curve which takes the curves on each side of a point and smooths them so you don't get a "kink" in the line. This would be preserved even if the point were moved. Could the normals be made to be parallel?

 

-) Extend the point context menu to allow more features such as those above

But I do really like the software

  To answer to your questions,

  You can hold down the Shift key while creating curves to maintain the "smooth points" to be in a straight line. Please refer to Create AI Bezier Curve manual.
