Gather between points

Anyone know how to create gathers between 2 points and then cover with a binding or taping, without the binding gathering up as well, staying smooth. This seems like it should be simple but I cannot figure it out.

  You can definitely do this. Just keep in mind you will need to make pattern pieces for the Binding instead of using the binding tool. 

  It is all about setting up the sewing. See below visual for reference.
