Cannot use the '3D Pen (Avatar)' tool on my uploaded custom avatar

Hi Everyone, I have uploaded a custom avatar and for some reason, the 3D pen tool is not working. Does anyone know why that would be? 

I have tried uploading as an OBJ and FBX. 

Everything else seems to be working correctly in relation to the custom Avatar.

  Thanks for your request.

  As you mentioned, it usually works that way.

  Did you try to export the OBJ/ FBX from CLO and try to import again?

  Great suggestion. I tried this out but unfortunately, it did not solve the problem. 

  My best guess is that the software used to create the custom avatar created it with a "low resolution". Not sure if that is the correct term or not. In the photo I added in the original post, you can see that the avatar looks jagged instead of smooth, so it's too difficult for the 3D Pen Avatar tool to work. 

  I've looked at different 3D software (Maya and Photoshop) to try and smooth out the surface of the avatar but no luck so far.
