cpu vs GPU simulation
Hi,
I previously had a post (16th march) relating to whether there was a limit to the amount of graphics that you can add to a file before the render stopped working.
You replied to say that With adding maps (both normal and displacement) if your render engine stops working you can try switching from GPU CUDA to CPU and this worked for me.
As a follow up question, I have been running a file with fewer maps and it has been able to render out single images on GPU assist mode without issue, but when I ran a turntable image in this mode it renders out 3/4 images then stops working. I've switched it to CPU only mode which seems to fix it but I was wondering if this due to the same issue as before? It would be helpful to know if there is anything I can do to allow the file to run in GPU mode as this is obviously 3 to 4 times faster to do

Hi rjbeveridge1
I hope you are well.
You are correct based on the previous comments and this can be the case.
The only way to improves this and use GPU is to either lower the map load. You can do this by removing non-seen maps from the backs of fabrics.

Alternatively, you will need to invest in a better graphic card and RAM that will allow GPU simulation. CLO supports GPU acceleration using Nvidia CUDA technology.
Please find links to a couple of their pages Studio Laptops or RTX Studio Products.
I hope this helps.
Take care
