Even More Features and Tweaks
So it's about that time where I post more requests. As always, if you're working on things like making the simulation better or hard surface collisions or stuff like that, feel free to ignore all this, that's most important. But if you get some time, here are some things I think would be really useful.
-Symmetric Arrange. So a lot of times, I'm creating small pieces of fabric and I usually want them to be symmetric, So I copy and symmetric paste the pieces, but then I have to move them all the way to the other side of the 2d window manually, which is a hassle and interrupts the flow of the work. If there were a right click arrangement option that would automatically mirror the pieces in the exact opposite side of the 2d grid, that would be very helpful for keeping the pattern organized and just speeding everything up.
Along with this, I'd love to have the option to mirror the position of pattern pieces in 3d space as well, it would especially help on smaller pieces of trim that need to be placed and can't be superimposed properly, or even just making a copy of a sleeve or half a bodice and pasting it in the right spot immediately. I know that this wouldn't put things precisely in the right position, but just being close to where it needs to go is often good enough, and not having to stop and manually move things with the gizmo would be SO useful.
-A "shadow" blue dot on symmetric patterns. Most of the time when I'm using the blue dot I'm just trying to get a general idea of location so I can place an internal line or point, and most of the time I'm also working symmetrically. So, I click to make the blue dot but it doesn't show up because I'm clicking on the wrong side I have to either navigate over in the 3d window or move to the opposite panel in the 2d window and it's really annoying. A smaller or lighter blue dot on symmetric patterns would be very helpful because it would allow me to get a sense of orientation regardless of which side I'm working on and not break my workflow.
-Add Point To Intersection - Really like this feature. Still wish there was a keyboard shortcut for it. The one thing that annoys me about it is that it places a point at *every* intersection. Most of the time I only want a point in a specific place. It would be great if you had something like an "intersect (selected)" option, where it would only create a point where two or more highlighted (selected) lines actually intersect.
-A dedicated "stop simulation" button. Probably "esc". When I'm simulating with the accurate sim and it's a moderately complex garment, and I hit the space bar it can take 10 or a lot more seconds to actually stop, and sometimes I'm not sure if it registered, maybe I was clicked away in another screen or I didn't push the spacebar hard enough, so having a dedicated "stop sim" button would be awesome
-In the fabric settings, when you are adjusting the front, back and side properties of the fabric settings, Clo keeps (front, back, side) tabs selected for ALL the fabrics, which is annoying and sometimes frustrating, because I switch to a different fabric and don't realize that I hadn't switched from the "back" tab on a different fabric. I'd actually like to see the "front" to be selected by default whenever you switch fabrics.
-Being able to merge multiple pieces together at once. Pretty self explanatory. When you have to merge a bunch of stuff together one at a time it gets tedious.
-When you have autogenerated normal maps and you change the height and width of the texture, the normal map should match the scale
-When merging two pattern pieces and both edges are identical, it should only make one baseline and not two right on top of each other. This would make baselines much more useable.
-The Topstitch extend (start) (end) should be off by default
-I mentioned this one before, but I'm wanting this more and more every day. "Match Up" options in the edit sewing menu (with hotkeys please) There are a couple of big benefits here, first it would be easy to tell which edge is the star and end. Second it would be SO much easier because you wouldn't have to click on edge and then scroll across the 2d pattern layout, find the other edge you want to match with, then move back to the other edge to match up. It would be- select sewing line > right click > match up. This would make it so much easier.
-Another thing I've mentioned before, but is also worth repeating. The Trace Tool. It's my absolute favorite tool but there area few things that could really take it to the next level of usefulness. When you trace a pattern I'd like to see the option for it to work like the Layer Clone tool where it puts the traced pattern right on top of the other pattern, I'd also really like to see an option for having it already sewn on, again like the layer clone, except make all the sewing segments divided up not one big loop. These could also be right click options, so instead of left clicking to place the trace you right click for options. I almost always want my traced pattern to be placed where I traced it and also sewn on, this would just cut out the extra steps I do anyway when I trace.
As always, thanks for reading,
-Daniel
