new user selection tool not working

The selection tool is not highlighting or selecting in 3D or 2D, is sometimes select a pattern piece much higher than where I'm pointing but not consistently. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Clo - Using a regular mouse with Mac - Settings are set to regular mouse too. What can I do to get the selection tool working ?
