What is the fastest, most compatible computer and mouse/tablet set up for Clo3D?
I love designing in Clo3D but currently I am using an iMac/magic mouse and there are a few issues. I want to buy a computer specifically for my Clo3D work and want to know what is the fastest/ best/ most advanced and integrated computer set up? Can anyone help to recommend. (I will switch to PC if needed for speed and work flow) thanks Barbara

Best thing I ever did for design and business was ditch the MAC many years ago. Right there with you on that score, and you will never look back, as the MAC was a serious hardware limitation in CG design.
My suggestion is also look a little bit beyond just CLO3D, as fabric texturing and rendering and even animation are going to be aspects that flow into using CLO3D, so although it tempting to buy a workstation solely for CLO3D it pays to also consider the wider cross over and balance out what you need within a workstation.

Hi Ottoline,
Thanks for responding to my post. What computer/ mouse (specs would help) set up do you work on or what do you wish you would have given that you seem like you are very experienced in CG design. Thanks so much,
Barbara

I am most probably not typical of any mainstream fashion user as I have access to some pretty impressive (and costly) CG hardware .
Your best friend when using CLO3D, high CPU clock speed (not to be confused with high GPU speed). Clock speed and the ability for the chipsets (most modern and recent chips will do this today at a cost effective price) on the CPU to tubo boost from a low speed to a high (GHz) speed is by far one of the best performance boosts when doing cloth collision and final beauty pass simulation. I will write a little more about this when I have time.
The other biggest improvement to speed with CLO3D is actually not even hardware - it's systematic workflow ! Sounds bizarre but yes workflow and how you setup your assets in CLO3D will make your build time fly and reduce in time frame as you build your resource base and increase the quality. So that's my two biggest focus points for pure simulation speed and quality a CPU chipset with a high clock speed and stella habits in workflow. When I sit down tonight I will wrote a little more about what to look for and why.
In the meantime rest easy as you can get a fantastic choice of hardware now to make CLO3D hum at speed off the shelf, or go for gold with some of the more custom builds. One thing to note is that CLO3D is basically the gold standard on cloth simulation quality and performance, leaving behind most of the competitors so choosing CLO3D as your fashion CG simulation is already a great choice as there innovation developers really do push the box and everyone else tries to follow them.

Hi Ottoline, You are amazing and obviously an elite expert in CG Design. Thanks for taking the time to explain and share your thoughts. They are extremely helpful. I will await any more information and thanks for all of it! B-Girl
