How To Flatten A Pattern With Ease Already Incorporated?
The 3D (Avatar) Pen is a great tool to help create patterns that fit snugly over contours of the avatar, easily and accurately. The final product, however, conforms to the avatar with no ease.
Goal
Use 3D (Avatar) Pen to flatten pattern pieces to create final 2D patterns with ease already incorporated.
Solution 1
Create form fitting garment using standard Flatten tool, and modify 2D pattern afterwards using slash/spread technique. Issue(s): Can be time consuming and difficult with more complex patterns/garments.
Solution 2
Customize avatar to have the final measurements + ease before using the 3D Pen and Flatten tools. After flattening 2D patterns, return avatar to final measurements (i.e. subtract ease from the avatar). Issue(s): Time consuming, maybe inaccurate?
Question
Do you know of any other solutions so as to be able to use the 3D (Avatar) Pen and Flatten tools to create 2D patterns with ease already incorporated? I'm hoping there is a setting that can be easily changed to assist in this (maybe Skin Offset or an equivalent, "3D Pen Offset").
