render: mesh showing on garment
Hi everyone! :)
I am having an issue with the mesh clearly showing on my final render.
There was a similar post a while ago about this issue but it never got solved....
To begin with I am advanced in CLO and have not had this problem until it kept happening recently.
I am simulating a garment and need to produce a high quality render...
Unfortunately on the final render, where the fabric creases, you can see the mesh texture.
In an earlier post someone said this was an error in 5.1 but I am still getting this error in the latest version.
I have been able to improve it slightly by lowering the particle distance to 3 and changing the mesh type.
But unfortunately this is not an acceptable standard for what i need.
Things i have tried:
-simulating at 3 particle distance and letting garment simulate for an hour
-changing mesh to quad mesh for square pieces (has helped slightly)
-setting the normal map to 0 as this was mentioned before
-rendering at 50minutes max time, high quality fabric setting
Does anyone have an idea on how to smooth out the fabric in the creases/ make it fall fluidly without the mesh showing?
Thank you!!

Larissa, can you try getting rid of the texture from the fabric. For instance apply the default fabric and render. Rendering time doesn't have anything to do with this so you can use the interactive rendering tool to check how it looks.
One thing you need to work on is to use Turned seams wherever you have to sandwich pieces like the front pocket. For the waistband and cuffs I wouldn't fold them, but make it only half and increase the rendering thickness for that piece.
Post back.

Hi Pablo,
Thanks for your suggestions!I will do a test in the default fabric to see if that solves it.
as for the texture: Unfortunately for the final images the texture is vital as it is to showcase a product- So I would not be able to not have any texture applied.
Previously I have set the normal map to 0 and just used the texture image as that was mentioned a while ago (which did not help).
I have also tried another fabric (wool) for the physical properties and used the rib-texture of the initial ribbed fabric.
Unfortunately this only improved it slightly.
You are referring to do Turned seams for the seam of the waistband-Body, correct? I will change that, Thanks. The actual garment is quite bulky as the fabric is heavy so I have left the waistband/ cuffs folded on purpose.
But will do a test as you said using only half to see what the outcome is :)L

Just get rid of the textures to test, then we can decide if that is the problem and move on to test other textures and normal maps.

Thank you so much for helping!
I really appreciate it. Have been having this problem for a while and it keeps me from using CLO as the outcomes are just not good enough- So i hope I ll be able to find out what the issue is.
Unfortunately this is the preview of the sleeve simulated with the default fabric from 5.2 and all textures and normal map set to 0:

Larissa, please apply the default fabric. That fabric doesn't have any textures or normal maps. If you want send me the file pablo.quintana at forastyle.com

Hi Pablo, The last photo I sent is the default fabric- I probably just wrote it confusingly. English is not my first language, sorry.
The image I sent is using the default Fabric from 5.2 without textures or normal map.
As you can see the problem with the mesh still occurs.
I won't be able to send the files as it is not my own project and I would rather not share the file.

Yeah, I haven't seen something similar except when the fabric texture and normal map are used incorrectly. Maybe someone else here has an idea on how to fix what you have.
I can firmly state that this is not normal behavior and that this doesn't happen regularly. CLO is a great tool and produces professional results, which means that your expectations are correct in terms of what you can get out of CLO.
I also know that untrained users find bugs where one normally wouldn't so maybe you did find something odd.
I wish you the best and do not despair.

ahh, thats a shame. I wish I could find out what the issue was as it is really holding me back.
I have seen about 4 other posts on here and on facebook where the mesh looked similar and people were having similar issues, so it does not seem to be only me.
Someone did mention this was 'something that happened with 5.1' and that 'developers were working on it' but I haven't seen that mentioned anywhere else.
I am not sure how untrained users would find more bugs than trained users and cannot say it ever happed to me in the past years. But this is certainly is keeping me from using CLO.

Hi Guys,
I'm getting the same issue. The image below shows the same fabric applied to a handle and the body of this bag. The handle smooth and the body faceted with the mesh. This makes me think it's a pattern thing/seam folding or a bug.
Has anyone solved this?
Thanks, Chris

Hi ! this thread is 2 years old , and unfortunately this issue came back !
I updated my CLO recently ( ver 7.0.358 ) and now all my fabric renders have this awful, very visible mesh texture ..
Wondering if anyone found a solution to get rif of that ?
Thanks !

Hi noemie06
Can you add a photo for reference?
Without more info we can often say this can be fixed by reducing the Particle Distance from default 20 to 5

Hello,
Here is the photo reference, it happens on all sorts of fabrics, just more obvious on white / thin ones like shown in the pic.
The particle distance is already at 5, and the simulation is on high quality :/
