CLO's Fabric Kit - Digitizing service or DIY version
Hello Community. I have been getting some requests about very specific fabric simulation properties, and I keep coming back to the CLO Fabric Kit.
I know it is about $5,000 for enterprise users alone, which is out of reach for many of us. Does anyone have one and would be willing to do the digitizing service?
Does anyone else have an alternative way or is even CLO willing to share the specs of the individual pieces so one can build a DIY version?

Hi Pablo. This is very easy to do yourself. There are drawings of the box. But all this takes too much time. And this is just for getting the 'correct normal map'
Personally me, one good photo close up is enough for me. There are many nodes in the designer to make a tile, remove shadows, and get all the necessary maps. In the extreme case, if there is no necessary information, it can be invented. ;)I recommend to use Substance designer. This is the whole universe, hidden in a small box.

Hey Vad. I believe my post got confusing by adding the Substance Designer comment. I meant to use it as an example only of what other companies do in order to promote their software by allowing the users make their own hardware.
I'm interested in digitizing the physical properties of the fabrics to simulate, and not the texture.

Physical properties without septicial equipment or how not to get. The box will not help. ;)

Thanks Ottoline. I thought this was the way to go for DIY versions. There is one piece missing for me which is the flex test. What is the height of the jig? 20 mm possibly?

Certainly a way of getting the info. I will try that and share here and see if CLO can confirm it later on, or if some other owners of this jig can share it.

Sounds techy. Maybe you should post a small video an let us see what is your robotic measurement device.

Hey, Pablo! I've been searchinh for the same variable. The height of the equipment. Did u find out it's value?

If you look at their video, capture a frame and place it into fspy and make a 3D model of the rig using the scale measure as a reference on their ruler you can measure the height from the image. Takes a few minutes.

actually I wish there is a service provider for fabric simulation properties like how vizoo offers for the texturing..

Hi Pablo, I need the fabric kit as well. Did you manage to find an alternative for the flex test?

Hey guys, not really. I will be creating one in the coming months so I can offer that service to the interested parties around here. I agree with Pinar, there should be a Vizoo-type of service to digitize fabrics.
Stay tuned!

By the way ottoline just curious why you delete your comments?

Hello!
I thought I would bump this thread back up to see what people were using in terms of digitizing services. pabloquintana Did you create your service yet?

Hey plumconsulting. I was about to start the service off of Dallas since March, but then this happened. =)
Let's hope for end of this year.
