Print Layout Mode greyed out and discussion on grain line and texture placement
I am trying to select this mode from the top right hand corner but it appears to be greyed out. Is this because I only have the trial?

Our Print Layout Mode is only active when Fabric has texture.
>>Print Layout Mode grayed out when there is no Texture
>> Print Layout Mode is selectable when Fabric has Texture
Also be noted that the Fabric with Texture must be applied to at least one Pattern. -
Oh silly me!
I had a fabric applied but no texture.
I wanted to see the simulation effects of moving the grain line to the bias direction of the fabric. I am assuming it should stretch more along the bias?
The manual says to use the Edit Texture 3D tool to rotate the grain line but it seems this just orients the texture pattern.
Do I need to rotate the pattern piece in 2D to a different angle to orient the pattern along the bias?

Hey @allyshake - rotating the pattern piece does not affect the grainline at all. Check out these ways to change the texture:
FOR THE WHOLE PATTERN
You can also use this for single pieces, but I think it's easier for the whole pattern. Depends how you like to work.
1. With the Transform Pattern Tool, select all the patterns (Ctrl + A).
2. In the Property Editor there will be a Grain Direction option - type in 45 degrees
3. Use the Edit Texture Tool or Print Layout Mode to adjust the texture placement.
FOR ONE OR MORE PATTERN PIECES
(3D Version)
1. Select the Edit Texture Tool (3D)
2. Click on the pattern piece that you want to change the grain of
3. Use the Grain Handle to rotate the grainline. PS - Hold Shift to snap to 45 degree angles
(2D Version)
1. Select the Edit Texture Tool (2D)
2. Click on the pattern piece you want to rotate
3. Rotate using the Grain Handle (shift works here too)
Hope that's useful! It took me a while to get the rotate.change grain/change surface appearance differences.

@goddessofpizza thanks heaps. So am I right in saying the simulation and drape is effected when you put the grain line of the texture on the 45 deg? It looks like it does. I am thinking of bias cut dresses for example?

Hey @allyshake - yes absolutely!
