Rectangular Pleats - & Picot Trim Tutorials
Hi Everyone!
Here is a quick video showing an easy method to make pleats! It's really easy to attached a small piece and then build, fold and simulate as you go. If you do your math correctly you can start with one little piece and add the pleat allowance using offset pattern outline. then you can merge the sections together after you've simulated to eliminate the seams.
It took me less than five minutes to make this pleated section all around the bottom hem. Hope you find it useful!
Picot Trim Tutorial below - included the set-up and saving process in Photoshop
Directions below!!
Photoshop Steps
1. Bring Trim image into Photoshop.
2. Crop to a single clean repeat **You will want to leave a little space above and below your trim image.
3. Delete surrounding areas to create negative space and just leave trim parts.
4. Change to greyscale if desired.
4.Export as a transparent PNG.
CLO Steps
1. Measure the edges of the pattern where you want to have the trim.
2. Create a rectangle pattern piece matching the length X whatever height you want the trim to be.
3. Create a Fabric and set that fabric to have 0% opacity.
4. Apply the transparent fabric to the rectangle pattern piece created.
5. Place the PNG created onto the fabric to place as a texture image.
6. Scale and re-position the texture image as need on the piece.
