Rhinestone placement

Dear artiste6543, are you using the Button tool or have you created a custom topstitch? The latter may be preferable to control placement of so many embellishments.

I have been using the trim tool and the glue function.  The rhinestone file is a trm file.  Do I do to do anything special to be able to use it as a button or a topstich?

    Hi artiste6543

In the newest 7.1 webinar you can see how to use custom OBJs as top stitching HERE. There are times stamps listed below. The exact section about OBJ topstitch is at 1:06:15 Topstitch | Add Custom OBJ

Thank you, this was very helpful! Now I have a follow up question: this worked great when I drew horizontal lines, however, on curved or diagonal lines, the stones became distorted.  Also, sometime and the end of a line of stones, the final stone in the line would become a lot wider than the other stones in the line.  Is there a setting I can use in or to maintain the stone shape and size? The stones should be round.

    Hi artiste6543

Did you try turning on the Smooth option in the Property Editor? This is also mentioned in the Webinar directly after the OBJ topstitch section

The other option which is a bit more manual is to use the Edit Topstitch feature and slightly lengthen or shorten the Topstitch line. CLO is trying to fill in the full length of the line which is what is causing the Rhinestone to stretch.

I did try both of these things. Changing the length of the line can help with the end rhinestone, however neither helps with the distortion on a diagonal line.  I am able to improve this by changing the size the topstitch for each individual lines but another fix for this issue would be helpful for the next version of CLO :)

I have another issue now using the topstitch tool for binding.  I created a obj file to use in the topstitch tool to give the appearance of binding.  It looks good but my export obj file of just the binding is too large to use on my shopping platform (around 300 MB) is there a way I can reduce this file size?

    Hi artiste6543

It is a new tool, but we will definitely keep the tool improving!

For binding have you tried the Binding tool? Another technique you could try is more of a "3d fake it" method. Offset an internal line the width of the binding from the pattern edge > Cut and Sew > Add additional thickness Render to this new pattern piece > It will now have the appearance of binding

    Thank you!
I used have mentioned that this binding is not placed like a usual binding, it's the same material as the binding but placed all over as shown in the screen shot. All of the red lines are to have the same white "binding" trim applied to them. I have used a cut and sew method to create this look, which worked, but using the topstitch is faster and more uniform, but the exported file is too big.  The topstitch seems to be making too many topstitch segments.  When I set just one line with the binding topstitch, it seems to create multiple segments in the obj export selection window.

I see. The best method for binding like the above image is to use pattern pieces. The best way to do this can be to draw the outline onto your 2D pattern and then use the Trace tool to create/pull out the pattern pieces. It should take the same amount of time as Topstitch and greatly reduce the file size.
