- To avoid deformation of the 3D Garment, fold the ribbing prior to Simulation.
- Drawing a Fold Line
- TheFold Arrangement tool can only be applied to seamlines and Internal Lines.
- Navigate to the 2D Toolbar and select theInternal Polygon/Line tool. Using the midpoints on the sides of the ribbing Patterns, draw a fold line.
- Navigate to the 3D Window. Select theFold Arrangement tool from the 3D Toolbar.
- Click on the newly created fold line and the Fold Arrangement Gizmo tool will appear. If parts of the Fold Arrangement Gizmo tool are difficult to access, rotate around the Avatar until the tool is fully visible. Use the arrows to fold the ribbing in half. Repeat for the other side. - Assigning a Fold Angle
- To fold ribbing more precisely, assign a Fold Angle to the fold lines.
- Select the fold lines on the 2D Patterns with theEdit Pattern tool from the 2D Toolbar. Navigate to the Property Editor. Under Fold, set the Fold Angle to 0 degrees.
- Establishing Sewing Lines
- The folded ribbing Patterns need to be sewn.
- Select theSegment Sewing tool from the 2D Toolbar. Sew the upper half of the ribbing to its lower half.
- Freeze all the Patterns except the ribbing to maintain the current drape of the 3D Garment.
- With the Transform Pattern tool selected, click and drag over all the Patterns in the 2D grid. Make sure to encompass all the Patterns within the marquee box to select them. Selected Patterns will be highlighted in yellow. Hold down the Shift key from the keyboard and deselect the ribbing Patterns.
- Navigate to the 3D Window. Right click on one of the selected Patterns to access a pop-up menu. Select Freeze.
- Click on the Simulate icon in the 3D Toolbar to drape. When the Patterns are folded correctly, turn off
Simulate.
Sewing the Side Seams of Ribbing Patterns
- Using the Segment Sewing tool, sew the side seams of the ribbing Patterns together.
- Turn on Simulate. When the ribbed Patterns are fully draped, turn off
Simulate.
- Lower the Particle Distance of the ribbing for better Simulation.
- Select the ribbing Patterns in either the 3D or the 2D Window and navigate to the Property Editor. Scroll down to the Simulation Property submenu and decrease the Particle Distance value to 5.
- Activate the Frozen Patterns.
- With the Transform Pattern tool selected, click and drag over all the Patterns in the 2D grid. Make sure to encompass all the Patterns within the marquee box to select them. Navigate to the 3D Window and right click on one of the selected Patterns. A pop-up menu will appear. Select ACTIVATE.
- Turn on Simulate to apply the changes.
- The ribbing will drape alongside the other parts of the 3D Garment more naturally.
