    You don't as far as I am aware. The way to work might be to drop all line reference points inside the pattern piece and then lay that p.o.m. 

    All the data should be on the pattern piece if it's translated to external software (pipelines).

    I've tried everything. Nothing seems to work. It's quite possibly not a feature in the current version.  Hopefully in future versions tho... Thanks for the reply!

    If you read my comment again, you will find you can place the line pom on the inside of the pattern. The measurement is possible, but you need to run a horizontal line internally referencing these reference datum points (you can use internal lines and baselines) as reference construction from pattern points.

    That's okay, you were just using good drafting practice by having your dimensions external. Every application has it's qwerks.

    If you used an external measurement that passes outside  the patterns closed shape you will get a 0.000 reading. Therefore use internal POM points and line references only. make a straight line down (internal reference line or baseline) from the points of measure then measure keeping your POM inside the pattern shape.
