Does anyone know how to create this roll top effect of a bag? (not my image, its @janissne)
Thanks

Hi Jennyd. I would split the top part in two big pieces and sew them back to back on the sides with Turned seams. I would simulate and let the fabric drape to the position you like. This will not have the rolled effect yet. In my example I'm using a very stiff fabric, so you don't see the draping.
Step 2.
Draw an internal line where you want the fold to go and how much you want the fold to be.Then simply Cut & Sew and Layer Clone Under those cut pieces and simulate.
Step 3.
For the final touches I would remove the Linked Editing of the pieces, merge back the Cut pieces to remove the seamlines and manually remove the sewing lines for the Layer Clone Under Pieces. This way you can sew them again but controlling what the angle is to give the rounded effect. Make the seamline 3D effect intensity zero so it looks like a continuous piece of fabric.
Let me know if you find this confusing or if you need more help.
Happy CLO'ing!

Thanks so much for your reply and help. I'm struggling to follow a little as i'm new to the software. Is there anyway you could break it down a little more?
Really appreciate your help.

Hello again Jenny. My suggestion is always to try, fail, try and fail again. You can give it a go again and then find more specific points where you are not following through. Also, please share some images of what you have and what you have accomplished so we can have a better understanding of what you want to create.
Cheers!

Hi,
Sounds good thank you.
Is this what you mean by 'split the top part in two big pieces and sew them back to back on the sides with Turned seams.'

Thanks again for your help!

Great! Yes. Now you need to merge the bottom and middle pieces to make it one piece again. Then you'll have to play with the sewing lines with 3D Seamline Intensity in 0 and change from turned seam to any other angle so you create the effect of the fold roundness that comes from the thickness of the fabric.
What are you trying to create?

I'm looking to create the folded top of that bag on a current bag design I have. I want to create the rolled/folded material at the top that is secured with the lock like in the photo I first sent.
here is where i got to on trying the second step.

Like in the picture above how it is folded over and secured with a buckle

Hi Jenny. You've making progress, no doubt.
The trick is in the sewing lines angles. With this you can control how the pieces fold. I see that your seam lines on the longest part of the seam are not turned, that is why it looks bloated. Once you have your product seam lines at the required angle, change the fabric to something that is softer so it drapes quicker. Maybe a Knit Point Jersey.
