A realistic scarf
Dear all,
I just got myself this program. I only need it right now to create a square scarf.
Can anyone please tell me how I get the hemline done like on this image?
Thanks so much for your help.

Hi philsid and welcome to the CLO community. There is a specific Hem tool in CLO for that. You can see in the image below. Now, if you want to make this kind of stitches, you'll have to play with the stitches SPI factor to make them really long. I'm not sure you'll be able to get it right. Tell us more about your project and we might be able to help you more.

Dear Pablo,
Thanks a lot for your help. I was now able to do it on three sides. Somehow it doesn't allow me to do it on all for sites. The line always turns red :(
What I am trying to do? I do produce scarves. (140x140 cm), 93%Modal & 7%Cashmere. I thought it would be an easy task :) to create such a piece with clo3d.
I mainly would use it to test out new designs. But would also do some final renders with it on Daz3d and KeyShot.
So I don't really have planned to get a master in Clo3d, but as it seems there is no tutorial for this simply piece of fashion around. That's why I posted it also in the Free Themes forum here, as a job.
Could you do it for me?
Unfortunately also in the Clo3d fabric library (marketplace) this fabric (modal & cashmere) is missing. Also on this image, the softness of my fabric doesn't really come through. (that's real image by the way :)

Hello again philsid. We try to help users become acquainted with the basic tasks and then put many hours so one can get proficient with CLO3D.
In this case, if you would like to get this job done faster I can do it for you.
Happy to help you at pablo.quintana@bicher.mx
Then, after we've cracked this one, we can get back to the forum and share our workflow for others to learn.
Looking forward to your comments,
Pablo

Dear Pablo,
that's fantastic news. I just wrote you an email. A second one will follow shortly. :)

Hi Pablo,
I was hoping that (indeed) you would post the follow up to this here in the forum, as it is exactly the same problem/scenario for me.
I want to create a rolled hem on a square piece of fabric and it cannot be done with the binding tool - Clo only lets you do it around three sides, then the forth side just turns red as per the user's experience above.
Could you please tel us how to do it? And could you also please pass on to the Dev team the request: ROLLED HEM TOOL :-)
Thanks!

Hey Odellin. The binding tool behaves as you explain, but in reality is just an automated way of cutting a piece of fabric and sewing it on top of the edge. You can do this manually, or better yet, use the folding arrangement tool to fold the edges after you've made them like the image below. Make sure you use a very low particle distance (maybe 1 or 2 mm) and then delete the folding lines, that way the binding will turn round.

Hi Pablo!
WOWOWOWOWWWWW!!!! That is SO cool and exactly what I need. I had actually discovered the fold tool so I gave it a shot earlier adding a few internal lines on each edge and folding it over but it looked pretty rubbish in al honesty.
Your solution here is immaculate. I would just add a pickstitch on the top side and its perfecto!
I don't suppose you would be kind enough to send me the model that you have created to explain it? It would save me a ton of time today, would really appreciate. I only started using Clo on Monday so it's still a bit of a learning curve for me.
Thanks in advance!

Hi Again Pablo, no need to send me the file actually - it isn't the right dimensions for my model. I will have to try and do it myself!
One question though, how are you creating that pattern shape with the corners missing (for better folding)? Are you drawing it freestyle?
I wanted to do that earlier, but other than drawn a square then 4 thin strips of material and stitching them on, I couldn't figure it out.
I was trying to stay out of illustrator ideally, so could you possibly explain how I get the corner details? (I see you also curved them to get an even neater fold, HOW!!?! MAGIC!!!!)

Good to read it worked for you. The corners are missing because I use the Pattern Outline tool to add two sides (opposite sides) at a time. So this is a two step process: extend top and bottom first, and then left and right.

Hi Again, I've figured how to get the corners, but how do I curve them? I can seem to use the Edit Curve point or Edit curvature tool, its not working. Any tips?

In my example they are not curved. Adding a curve will not help you get the hems or it will make it more complicated. I suggest you leave them square. Another think I suggest is that you add the hem after you have draped the scarf. Doing it before might complicate the draping as you have to use a very low particle distance.

Ok thanks! Can't I just re-set the 3D arrangement and then re simulate the scarf to get the draping working properly?

Yes you can.

I can select the internal Line Pablo in order to 'offset as internal line' it's only letting me select the external lines. This is what keeps happening and I cant figure it out

Typo, should be *cant* select internal lines

What happened is that you extended the pattern outline and forgot to check the add internal line box. You have to manually add a folding line using the internal line tool (G).

THANK YOU!

Hi Pablo.
Sadly I cannot replicate your model at all. Following your instructions exactly, correct particle distances. Nothing works. I'm just not able to recreate what you did. So frustrating. If I sent you dimensions, would you be able to do this for me please? I'll pay you of course. Please let me know your email address if you have time to do this. Thanks

Hi Pablo, sent you an email this morning, did you get it? Was hoping to get something sorted out today ideally. Thanks!
