HOW TO : Import a color palette (.ase) from Illustrator into CLO
Hi all,
If you want to import a color palette from a color card into CLO, here's how:
1. Open Color Card in Illustrator & Ensure your Swatch Palette is showing
2. Use the Black Arrow Selection Tool to select each color chip
3. In the swatch palette - click the icon for New Swatch to add it into your palette
* if you already have swatches in there, select the first, hold shift and select the last swatch and click on the trash can icon to delete all the default swatches.
4. Name your swatch, and click OK
5. Once you have done this for all swatches, change your document color mode to RGB
(this can be done anytime, I just often work in CMYK, so I do this right before I export the palette - your choice though)
6. In the Swatch Palette, use the menu extension to save your swatch library as an ASE file
7. Import into CLO
- Select the Fabric from the Object Browser & add the palette in the Property Editor. This color palette will remain in your program forever, until you manually delete it. In addition, it will appear for all color options (buttons, topstitching etc). Use the icons in the color palette editor to view & hide swatch names, or to change the size.
Happy CLO-ing!
