I've tried everything to make bag stiffer, but nothing works, help
New to Clo3d. Ive been try to construct a bag that has many smaller pattern pieces that are very stiff and quite sculptural (so not so much traditional bag shapes). But every time I simulate, it floats away, or is a crumpled mess.
I have gone through all the posts and tutorials I can with similar issues, and have not been able to find a solution.
I have tried to change the simulation properties, fabric and fabric properties, set the gravity back to -9800, use bonding & a pressure of 10. strengthen tool, solidify tool....
I'm frustrated because if I could just get the fabric to be stiffer, my workflow would be so much easier (all the other parts of Clo3d are working good for my project).
So some specific questions:
Can I export a material to sort of bone, sewn inside 2 fabrics from turbosquid? For example, stiff but bendy plastic. Or just very stiff interfacing.
Or what about piping with wiring in it-is this a solution?
Or…is there another program to work alongside CLo3d that would help?
Will you be adding some stiffer fabric options soon? I have seen many people ask this question
(I would still use Clo for the rest and other things :)
Help! Many thanks

loritablue Sorry to hear you are struggling a bit here. Along with Trim_Hardware, you can try Trim_Full Grain Leather. The size of the bag will also play a part in this as well. See the attached image. The main part of the bag is 24" wide and 15 inches high. The only thing added to help is a single pin at the top of each handle. If removed the bag still stands when simulated and it is constructed using Trim_Full Grain Leather.

Hi loritablue
Which fabric are you using for the pattern pieces. The stiffest material in CLO is the Trim_Hardware. You can also apply Strengthening in the 3D window to make the pattern pieces stiffer or apply Bonding in the Property Editor.
A good trick with bags is to Freeze the Base piece (or a similar main component) in the 3D window since many bags are not build with Avatars. Although there are 3D shaped avatars to use in the CLO Avatar library.
If you bring in something from Turboquid or similar it will be a hard object and will not bend. You can also make your own hard objects in CLO. This video HERE shows the process (it is a buckle but the same concept for any other hard objects). Ig you need more complex shapes with actual hard modeling many users also use Blender (it is free) and if you look up the Donut tutorial it is great for learning
You may also find joining to CLO official Discord helpful as there are many great users sharing their tips and tricks

Thank you very much for your suggestions. Tried strengthening and bonding and it is still floppy.
The easiest thing for me would probably be to have a stiff fabric imported into clo i could use. So I have looked through turobsquid and cg trader and i cant find any materials like plexiglass or flexible fabric, just as a material...only items made of these materials. Is there anywhere else I should look? I also looked at vmod and closet but couldnt find anything. What do you recommend?
NB: Thank you for the link to the hard objects. I do think it would be easier for me to have a hard fabric, so I can easily apply it to my patterns,
thanks for your help

Hi loritablue
you will not find Zfab material files on the websites above, just hard objects. We currently do not have any materials with this much stiffness. You could try to Freeze or add Pins possible
If you want you could add images for further advice, but without seeing what it is you are creating and working on we cannot give much more advice.
