I'm starting CLO for work. Do I use the new M1 Mac or a PC?
Hey.
I'm needing to start using CLO for work and I'm going to get a new computer or perhaps a laptop to run it.
I am deciding on whether to get a new Macbook or Imac(M1 Versions) or a PC.
I have a lot of experience using Apple products and my workflow is suited to it. I've not really done much on PC but I am more than happy to get into it if it seems like the best thing. I've read that the new M1 macs can render really fast now so I'm leaning towards that but I've also seen that getting a PC of the same power is cheaper and it's more customizable.
I'm also wondering if it is better that I get a laptop or desktop. A laptop is good because I can show clients things in person but if the power of a desktop is much more convenient in general I'd be more inclined towards that.
Thanks and happy new year haha

I am a mac person too, but I would highly recommend you use a PC for CLO. As you said, you will get the same power for nearly half the price with a PC and it is more customizable. You could upgrade things like RAM later. I also think a desktop is better for power and price, but I work from a laptop and monitor out of the need to travel, so it is doable. Gaming laptops are a good option if you need portability and power.

Clo is completely broken in the otherwise very powerful M1 Macs. Go for PC as it seems there won’t be support any time soon.

Thanks for responding. I ended up going for a PC. Good specs. I downloaded Clo just last week actually and its rendered in a couple of minutes with the very basic things I've done which is great. I was so close to going for an M1 Mac haha.

Hi, the post is a bit older, I know, but may I ask which PC did you end up buying? There is so much on the market I am a bit overwhelmed. Would appreciate some recommendation! Thanks!
