Rename Material Name

Is there any way to rename the material name from left search window

  I guess you could change the name of the file. Here is in Windows:

   

  C:\Users\Public\Documents\CLO\Assets\Materials\Fabric

  So from the front end user can't rename the file. One has to do it offline right??
