Hello sudolisa. Another option would be to sew the end of the string to the hold itself, not a transparent pattern piece. As the string would be going through the hole, this would give the effect of wrapping around the pattern piece. Is this a shoe/boot your are working on?

Hello sudolisa, the easiest way to have a lace/string coming out of a hole is to:

    - Make a circle pattern piece (cut and sew) where the hole is, apply it to a new fabric, and turn the Opacity down to 0.

    - Sew the string to an internal line within the small circle pattern piece.

As for the gap, it looks like there may be some additional thickness (Add'l Thickness - Rendering in the Property Editor settings per pattern piece) applied, and you are looking at it on Textured Surface instead of Thick Textured Surface. Please make sure in the vertical toggle menu that it is set on Thick Textured Surface.

Currently, there is no way to have Custom Angle sewing on an internal line!

If you have any other questions, please let us know!

    Hi,

Please check below which part is different from your point. Please see below, thick fabric option is still showing gap.

Really I need to figure this out. Please help.

Boots, I did cut each of hole in half at the internal line to make custom angle, but I also apply Strings joint to each side of end and attach to  hole pattern , it works.

But all Video that I saw did not have those additional work, so I wonder why mine shows gap and how the cap could be not showing when it is Turned sewing from internal line joint.

Hello sudolisa, glad you figured something out! May I know what video tutorial you are referring to?

Here are some other suggestions if you would like to try other methods.

    1. If you would like to work with the invisible hole pieces without cutting them down the middle, try to adjust the sewing tension to be slightly higher to try and pull the pieces in a bit more. I can see that the hole pieces have 0 collision thickness, but am unsure of the strings. Because you are working on a small scale, it will make a huge difference.

    2. Another method of doing this is to thread the strings through the holes like you would in real life. Here is a YouTube video from the CLO channel to reference!

    Thanks for trying to help.

Tutorial video that I meant are all in YouTube

String has 0 collision as below.  Sewing tension was higher but I tried one and off to see difference, but not much difference.

Line still show broken line.  I know when garment has full view, it is not much visible, but since I don't see that problem from others, I want to know what problem that I have.

The Video you linked , I already saw. But it works only for a few small piece of hole.

Can you show how the gap can be not showing when you try in your way?  I meant, No actual string work in real hole, or no half circle.

    Thank you.

    Hello sudolisa,

After some testing on my end, it looks like it has to do with the rendering thickness. When I take away the additional rendering thickness, the tie is kissing up to the internal line on the surface of the invisible pattern piece without a gap.

When I start adding rendering thickness, the piece of fabric starts to look like it is floating away from the surface because the fabric is not actually getting thicker, it's just visually making that pattern piece look thicker. In this screenshot, you can see the fabric look like it is pulling away from the pattern piece surface.

To help the pattern piece pull away less, I made the sewing line a little longer.

You could also try to adjust the thickness of the actual fabric in the Property Editor instead of the render thickness! This allows the fabric to drape closer to the pattern piece. The collision thickness is 0 on the invisible piece, and 1 on the string.

Thank you, it did help for better joint. I was playing with only rendering thickness, not actual fabric thickness, after changing and adjust all sewing tension, it looks better.

Thank you so much for helping with patience.
