HOW TO : Measure a Pattern in 2D
Hi all,
This post will help you to check your pattern spec in 2D.
Step 1: Select your Internal Polygon/Line Tool
Step 2: Click on the point you want to measure from
Step 3: Hold shift to lock the vertical axis, and double click on the bottom of the pattern - this will create an internal line on the pattern. Repeat this step on all measurements you'd like to mark.
Step 4: Select the Edit Pattern Tool
Step 5: Click on the line. You'll see a couple of measurements:
- The measurement of the line itself will pop up adjacent to the segment when it's selected
- The SUM of all the lines selected (if you have multiple) will be show in blue attached to your cursor
- In the Property Editor - under Selected Line, you'll see:
- The Measurement in 2D
- The Symmetric measurement (if you're working on symmetrically linked patterns)
- The Measurement when the garment is actually draped in 3D
- The Symmetric Measurement in 3D
Thanks & Happy CLOing!

Hi evoncassier. When using your POM tool just click once to start at your right hps, then move your mouse over to your left hps and double click to end. The measurement will be there above the yellow line that appears.

The pom tool works within the pattern but how can you define a POM that is not within a pattern. For example, the neck width from left hps to right hps?

How can I measure circumference with darts ie waist without including dart depth or taking several segment measurements?
Is it possible to create a custom POM? I tried adding in Object Browser but it does not give me option to add my own measurement.
