3D pen (avatar) not saving to project?

I'm feeling very discouraged right now because I just spent a great amount of time working on some patterns using the 3d pen on the avatar, thought that I had properly saved the project, quit, and then opened up the project again only to find that all of my 3d pen work had not been saved to project. So much time and work lost! What am I doing wrong? Should I have done "save as project (with other files)"? The 3d pen work is something I'd like to refer back to improve my final product and it just doesn't make sense if I can't save my 3D pen work at all. What am I doing wrong?

  This is very sad, but you can only re-open the 3D pen in the old version of the Clo. I hope this will be fixed. Very sorry for the time spent.
