Negative/open Space on Patterns

Hi!

 

Ive been having trouble with my patterns. My patterns keeps creating this negative space once I try to edit it or sometimes when I copy the pattern to the other side. Is there something wrong Im doing? See pic below.

  It should come back to normal when you simulate :)
