Simulation instability when sewing a TWIST - Help Please!
Does anyone have experience with a twist like this? I can get it to the point of increasing to a high res garment, but then it just pops it self apart by pulling through itself.
I have tried slowly increasing particle distance, and solidify but no luck.
Any suggestions much appreciated!

Hi!
There's a couple of things you can try -
- Freeze the patterns with the twist before Simulating (right-click on the patterns and select Freeze from the menu)
- Deactivate the sewing that is pulling on the knot (right-click with the Edit Sewing Tool)
- It appears as if your sewing is connecting with the twist very deeply into the twist, but I can't see the notches on your pattern to see if it's a sewing issue or not.
The issue you're having with high res garment is that it's reducing the Additional Thickness - Collision to .1. This is the buffer between the pattern pieces that allows them to stay in the twist. After you go to high res garment, try selecting only those two pieces. In the Property Editor, you will be able to manually increase the Additional Thickness - Collision of just those two (2.5 is a good start, then you can incrementally lower it while turning Simulation on and off). Then try simulating again.
To note: you should be decreasing the Particle Distance, not increasing it. Increasing it will make the twist less stable. Particle Distance is the density of the garment mesh in MM, so 5mm is a high-quality standard, 20mm is our draft quality for simulation, but 20 + mm will result in less definition, and make your garment look more geometric.
Thanks! Happy CLO--ing!
