Beginners guide
Hi there,
I am an absolute beginner when it comes to CLO 3D, I am currently trialing the new version of CLO. After going through your lesson videos, I find it is very hard to learn from them. Did you previously have some videos where you had people talking through the video, where it was much slower and provided a lot of guidance? I don't see this on your site now, only the lesson which are roughly 20 seconds long. I find myself going to youtube to watch videos, but these are out of date. Would you have further, tutorial videos coming out?
Thanks for your help,
Jess

Hi Jess!
Unfortunately, videos with sound will not be available for a little while. I'm sorry that the current set-up was confusing! I hope that the description text after each video can clarify some things for you. The text explains exactly what is going on in the video, so you can read and then watch it at your own pace. Did you download the Lesson files to follow along? If you haven't, they may be a more helpful guide to learning the software. It will be a bit clunky at the beginning because it's new, but hopefully that helps a little bit.
If you find that the Lessons are definitely not for you, then I recommend watching this webinar we held. It is on an older version of the CLO, but the newest version has the same basic functions (navigating, selecting, sewing, etc) and then maybe once that's under your belt you can try the Lessons again. The files the presenters talk about on the webinar are not available for download, but they do cover and talk about all the essentials to get you started.
Please let me know if you have any other questions! Thanks!

Hi guys,
I have kind of the same troubles. Also I´m watching the webinar video, but I´m desperately looking for the files you are using. It would help tremendously in the process of learning and understanding the program faster, especially because the whole video is set up to go along in the process step by step. Is it possible to make those available somewhere?
Thanks,
Yannis1 -
Hi Yannis,
I discussed internally regarding this issue, but unfortunately, the files used for webinar cannot be shared.
Have you checked out our Quick Start lessons? Although the content seems a bit different, it includes all necessary tricks to be learned and files for the Quick Start are uploaded as well. Hope this is helpful!
Best,
Erica

I can concur that the training materials as they stand are not ideal. I believe the webinar of Clo Atelier is good but should be updated for the latest version of the software.

@allyshake! Guess what, we have a good news! We are planning to hold webinars to introduce new features in CLO 4.1. Please keep your eyes on the mailbox!

Excellent, the webinar format would be good for basic and intermediate training as well as introducing new features. Then the webinars could be uploaded where potential users could really get the most out of a trial.

yeah, thanks for the suggestion!

Hi, I downloaded the free trial of CLO3D. I wanted to love it but I will not be renewing after my trial month expires. The reason is because there is no instruction for how to use this software. How do you expect people to buy your software if you do not explain how to use it? How do I go from an avatar to a finished flat pattern I can print out? Can you show me where the steps are for this process? Until that happens I cannot recommend CLO3D.

@romy
You have downloaded the beta trial of a new version, which has a limited expiration date until September 5th. You should have downloaded this version on the main page.

@romy,
First of all, I'm sorry for the frustration you experienced.
Before diving into creating your own patterns, I suggest you to thoroughly learn our Lessons to get a grasp of CLO (e.g. how to navigate, sew, place and more)
Then, please search in the Help Center for manuals of your need.
For your question, I selected some manuals that may help you.

https://support.clo3d.com/hc/en-us/sections/360000286148-Plotter (Plotter feature is only available in ver.4.2.0 and above. ver 4.2.0 will be released soon!)
Also, please visit CLO's official Youtube channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/clo3dsoftware
Lastly, please feel free to take advantage of our active Community to ask questions and share your feedback or insights of CLO.
Thanks,

I have searched everywhere online, and to be honest CLO does look like a great tool for designing. But its so hard to understand and every tutorial i see begins with a pattern that doesn't exist in the clo i have or how to create one myself.
Is there a place where i can get tutorials on basic design like t shirts and pants before anything complex

Also the "Lesson" file downloaded contains only patterns for female. My company focuses on only male wears for now so is there another downloadable file that has male pattern dxf instead and preferably a long-sleeved round-neck t-shirt pattern

Does your company have a pattern maker? Or do you want to get ready-made patterns? And to provide all the patterns should the company Clo? Did I understand your wishes correctly?
Maybe it's time to ask Santa about it. ;)

Hi Sirhenri,
If you are looking for some basic patterns, check out the Modular Configurator on the left hand side of the interface.
There are some basic patterns in there that you can start from. For these to work best, first open the male avatar and then load in the Attention Pose file:
Then you can pick out what garments you want to start from. These patterns are fitted to our Avatar's specs though, so if you are using them for fitting purposes they will not fit your current fit model or specs.
I would also highly recommend you follow the Lesson files, even though they are for have womens patterns. The Lessons will give you an intro to how the program works so you can learn all the navigation and sewing tools.
For any other patterns, you can either use digital patterns from your pattern maker and load those (ask for DXF files) or trace patterns from a book, like in this tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K4cMoneETRg
Hope this helps!

Downloaded the trial. Some items are not easy to locate or not avaialble at all. In the avatar, I am not able to choose from different body types. I cannot find a pant .DXF ... yes, I went to File > Import > DXF (ASTM/AAMA). There is no a Pants_Female.dxf to open or download.

Hi :) Are you walking through Lessons? Have you downloaded the exercise files on this page? https://support.clo3d.com/hc/en-us/articles/360000078327-Windows

Same for us. We checked Clo 3D via trial version but the instructions are not clear and without comment. Poor instructions of poor quality so you do have to search the text for what is happening on the screen. The basis of good software is a clear step by step instruction so that your quickly can get started. Otherwise everything is too expensive in terms of time before you can get started with all functions.

Hey texet. I'm sorry you feel that way, although I understand. I've been collecting info to create a more comprehensive online training (I'm a CLO freelancer). Maybe you could check this post and see if something will help you and if you can add something to this Online Course survey. Both links below.
