Overview of How Data is Mapped
This plugin automates the connection of complex knit material data between APEXFiz and CLO, including PBR textures, material layers, and part-based mapping.
Recommended Specification
-
CLO: 2026.0 or later versions
- APEXFiz: V-09C or later versions
Overview of How Data is Mapped
-
Part-to-Pattern Mapping: Each Part created in APEXFiz is mapped to a Pattern piece in CLO.
-
Exact Name Matching: The mapping is triggered by an exact match of the 'Part Name'.
- Automated Material Assignment: Once a match is found, the plugin applies all associated materials and PBR textures specifically to that matched part.
Naming in APEXFiz and CLO
-
Once the knit design is finalized in APEXFiz, check each Part Name.
-
In CLO, the Pattern Name must match APEXFiz's Part Name exactly.
📝 Note:
- Using single-byte alphanumeric characters (A-Z, 0-9) for naming.
- Avoid using double-byte characters (e.g., Kanji, Cyrillic) or special characters \ / : * ? " < > | for naming.
Exporting Data from APEXFiz
-
In APEXFiz, navigate to the 3D Mapping Editor ▶ Click the "▼" (arrow) next to the Save icon ▶ Select Export to CLO.
→ Show a pop-up menu of Export to CLO.
-
Set the Colorway, Resolution, Name, and File Type for export.
-
Click Default to set the default export path.
Default Path: C:\Users\Public\Documents\CLO\External\ShimaSeiki\APEXFiz
📝 Note: Default Path is required for automatically recognizing files and ensuring smoother data transactions.
-
Click Execute.
→ A main folder is created, containing individual sub-folders for each part. Folders follow the naming in 'Name_Colorway_PartName'.
→ Each sub-folder contains U3M material data and PBR texture maps.
Importing Data to CLO
-
In CLO, open a project file (ZPRJ), garment file (ZPAC), or patterns (DXF).
-
Check if the Pattern Name in CLO matches the Part Name in APEXFiz.
-
Navigate to Main Menu ▶ Plugins ▶ APEXFiz ▶ Select Import from APEXFiz.
→ Load PBR textures
→ Map materials to each pattern automatically based on name matching.
✨Tip:
- UseEdit Texture to scale or reposition textures directly on the patterns or the 3D garment.
- Access Print Layout Mode to align patterns precisely against the texture map.
Updating Design
-
In APEXFiz, modify the design.
-
Re-export by following Exporting Data from APEXFiz.
-
Re-import to CLO by following Importing Data to CLO.
