Automate the lacing process by guiding the lacing pattern and direction through designated holes.
This tool eliminates manual intervention by automatically routing the cord and generating an editable pattern for further customization.
Define Path
Select the
Lacing Tool from the 2D Toolbar.
Click the starting hole where the lacing begins or where the cord is first inserted.
Click the next hole in your desired sequence.
Continue clicking holes until you reach the last or exit hole.
To complete the sequence, double-click the final hole or press Enter.
An editable lace pattern will automatically generate in the 2D window for further modifications.

Edit the direction or curvature of an existing lacing without deleting and recreating it.
- Select the
Edit Lacing Tool from the 2D Toolbar.
- Click an existing lacing in the 2D/3D window to select it.
-
In the dialog, adjust the direction or curvature using the Reverse or Curvature options.
-
Reverse
- A reverse icon
will appear attached to your cursor.
- Click a specific hole to flip the lacing direction at that point.
- A reverse icon
-
Curvature
-
Use the slider to adjust the cord's arc.
-
Increasing curvature helps stabilise simulation by preventing the cord from colliding with or clipping into nearby patterns.
📝 Note: The generated lace is a standard pattern piece; you can independently edit its thickness, material, or physical properties in the Property Editor like any other garment part.
✨ Tip: If the cord enters an eyelet from the wrong side in 3D, use the reverse icon to flip the orientation without redrawing the entire path.
