Precisely measure and set the placement of a graphic by measuring from specific anchor points on the graphic to the Pattern Outline.
Add Custom Measurements
Straight line Custom Measurements
Select the Transform Graphic tool from the 2D toolbar.
Right-click the graphic in the 2D window and select Custom Measurements.
-
Click the Pattern Outline directly within the horizontal or vertical range of the graphic to automatically create a straight-line measurement.
Lock to
Graphic Outline
(default)Tethers the measurement anchor primarily to the Graphic Outline.
The measurement anchor point follows the graphic's transformations; if the graphic is scaled or moved, the measurement persists relative to the artwork's edges.
Pattern Outline
Tethers the measurement anchor primarily to the Pattern Outline.
The anchor point remains fixed on the pattern; moving the graphic manually will update the measurement distance while the pattern anchor stays in its original static position.
X&Y Measurement Coordinates
Select the Transform Graphic tool from the 2D toolbar.
Right-click the graphic in the 2D window and select Custom Measurements.
-
Select the starting point on the graphic:
Free Selection: Click anywhere within the graphic area.
Snap Selection: Hold the Shift key to display the graphic’s bounding box corners, center, and midpoints. The system also provides point recommendations based on the graphic image itself.
The cursor will automatically snap to the nearest recommended point for easier selection.
Move the cursor and click on the target Pattern Outline/Point to establish the measurement.
Adjusting Placement
-
Once the measurement is established, use the Placement Input Box in the Property Editor for exact coordinate control:
X & Y
Enter specific values to define the distance between the pattern outline (or point) and the anchor point on the graphic. Graphic Movement
Confirming these values moves the entire graphic to the precise coordinates relative to the pattern. Instant Sync
The graphic position updates immediately in both 2D and 3D windows.
📝 Note:
-
Smart Snapping
When holding Shift, the recommended points are dynamically generated based on the graphic’s visual style and geometry, allowing for more intuitive placement relative to the artwork's design.
✨ Tips:
Direct Calculation
Instead of calculating the final distance manually, you can type basic equations (e.g.,50 + 15or100 / 2) into the X or Y input fields.
Relative Adjustments
This allows you to shift the graphic by a specific increment relative to its current measured distance without clearing the existing value.
Efficiency
The software will automatically solve the equation and move the entire graphic to the resulting coordinate immediately.
