Objective
Express thickness or bumpiness of fabrics or textures. Applied result can be only checked in the Render window.
Location
Object Browser ▶ Fabric Tab ▶ Fabric (Select from the Fabric List) ▶ Property Editor ▶ Material ▶ Displacement Map
Operation
-
Follow the indicated path below:
-
Click the Browse button to add a displacement map and modify below settings as needed.
Displacement Map As displacement maps are grey-scaled, their height is determined by the level of darkness of the grey color.
📝 Note: Increase the image resolution and apply the Gaussian Blur effect to express the texture smoothly.
Amount Adjust the maximum height of the displacement map. The white area of the displacement map shows the maximum height.
e.g.) When the Amount is set to 10mm, the height for each color differs as below:
White 10mm, Grey 5mm, Black 0mmClipping Adjust to delete all geometries below the Clipping value.
e.g.) When you want to delete geometries of the certain area:
Particle Distance Adjust the Particle Distance of newly created meshes.
📝 Note As more memory is used for lower Particle Distance, it is recommended not to set the Particle Distance below 1 for a wide area.
Keep Continuity Extend the adjacent face to eliminate the boundary line.
📝 Note: Only applicable to Welded OBJs.

I can only get my displacement map texture to work within CLO's in built renderer. How can I apply it to an animation?
when i click on the 4 square window icon next to the displacement map gaussian blur does not pop up as an option. Is this something that I need to download?
@jill777 Gaussian Blur is something you have to apply to the image in photoshop. It's in the Filter Menu > Blur > Gaussian Blur https://expertphotography.com/displacement-map-photoshop/
