Modes can be switched through a dropdown menu at the top right of the CLO interface. Previous versions included more modes which have meanhwhile moved into being accessible through the main menu. Three remain at their original location:
Simulation Mode: Create and edit patterns in the 2D window, working on garments, changing avatar poses, etc. in the 3D window.
Print Layout Mode: Manually order patterns on prints to match texture placements in the 3D window and calculate fabric consumption. 
Emulator Mode: Create physical properties for fabrics after measuring them out with the CLO Fabric Kit hardware.
