Trace as an Internal Shape vs. Trace as Internal Lines/ Shapes
- Trace Baselines, Internal Lines and Pattern outlines as Internal Lines and Patterns.
- Select the Trace tool from the 2D toolbar.
- Or, navigate to the Main Menu and select 2D Pattern ▶ Trace.
Trace as Internal Lines/ Shapes
- Select Baselines, Internal Lines, or Pattern Outlines
- Click on the Baselines, Internal Lines, or Pattern outlines to be traced.
- Or, click and drag to encompass the desired items into the marquee box.
- The selected items will be highlighted in yellow. - Trace
- Right-click on the selected item and choose Trace as Internal Lines/ Shapes or Trace as an Internal Shape.
- Select Baselines, Internal Lines, or Pattern Outlines
- To trace Baselines, Internal Lines, or Pattern outlines as a shape, all selected lines need to be joined.
- Click on the Baselines, Internal Lines, or Pattern outlines to be traced. Hold down the Shift key on the keyboard to select multiple items.
- Or, click and drag to encompass the desired items into the marquee box.
- The selected items will be highlighted in yellow. - Trace
- Right-click on the selected item and choose Trace as Internal Lines/ Shapes or Trace as an Internal Shape.
Trace as an Internal Shape vs. Trace as Internal Lines/ Shapes
- Trace as an Internal Shape
- Use this option extract a closed shape as the shape created by the intersecting lines.
- Click all items such as Baselines, Internal Lines, and Pattern outlines that form the desired shape. Then, right-click and select Trace as an Internal Shape.
- Select theTransform Pattern tool from the 2D toolbar and select the shape just traced.
- The closed shape will be highlighted in yellow. - Trace as Internal Lines/ Shapes
- Use this option to trace intersecting lines as individual and separated lines.
- Click all items such as Baselines, Internal Lines, and Pattern outlines to be traced. Then, right-click and select Trace as an Internal Lines/ Shapes.
- Select theTransform Pattern tool from the 2D toolbar and select the lines just traced.
- Each traced lines will be selected individually.
- Click all items such as Baselines, Internal Lines, and Pattern outlines that form a shape.
- Right-click on the selected items and choose Trace as Pattern.
- To trace a shape as a Pattern, all lines’ ends need to be adjoining each other.
- When more than three intersecting lines are selected, a shape formed by them will be traced as a Pattern.
Trace with Guidelines_ver.5.0.0 and Above
- Select guidelines with Internal Lines or Pattern Outlines, and then right click to select the desired Trace option.
- Make sure to right click on the Internal Line or the Pattern Outline when tracing with guidelines.
