3D File (OBJ) Import/ExportFollow
Import OBJs as avatars, trims, and garments.
※ Note: 3D garments created in CLO can be exported as OBJ and compatible with other 3D software. An MTL file which saves material properties of the exported 3D garment is created at the time of OBJ export.
- Follow the indicated path below:
Main Menu ▶ File ▶ Import/Import (Add) ▶ OBJ
→ The Open File window appears.
- Select ta desired file and click Open.
→ The Import OBJ window appears.
- Click OK after configuring options.
Load as Avatar
Load an OBJ as an avatar to drape garments.
Automatically Add Arrangement Points - Arrangement Points are automatically created based on the OBJ (ver4.2.0).
※ Note: Arrangement Points are properly created only when avatars are in either A or T-pose.
Load as Trim Load an OBJ as a trim. OBJs imported as trims do not calculate collision (ver 3.0) Load as Garment Import and simulate an OBJ created in other 3D software such as Maya, 3ds Max, etc.).
Toggle on Trace 2D Patterns from UV Map to automatically generate patterns based on the UV information (ver 4.2).
Load as Morph Target
Load an OBJ to morph already imported OBJ.
Configure Morphing Frame Count to control morphing speed. Higher the value is, slower the morphing is.
※ Note: Morphing refers to a method to transform appearance of an OBJ according to another OBJ.
For CLO avatars, users can modify the shape or pose by using Avatar Size Editor or Show X-Ray Joints features, but users cannot easily change imported OBJs created in other 3D software due to un-rigged joints or loss of joint information. Thus, users can utilize Load as Morph Target feature to change body shape or pose of the imported OBJ. However, to do so, users need two or more OBJ files with the identical mesh structure.
Scale Type in the Scale or select the desired unit. Axis Conversion Invert each axis of the OBJ as needed. Translation
Locate the import position of the OBJ.
Toggle on Align Bottom to Ground to surface the OBJ when it is located below the ground. (ver 4.2)
- Follow the indicated path below:
Main Menu ▶ File ▶ Export ▶ OBJ/OBJ(Selected)
→ The Save File window appears.
- Locate the saving path and click Save.
→ The Export OBJ window appears.
- Configure the options and click OK.
Object Select All Patterns Select or deselect all Patterns. Select All Avatars Select or deselect all avatars/ objects. Select All Graphics/ Top-stitches Select or deselect all graphics or top-stitches. Individual selection is available on the drop-down menu on the right (ver2.2.0).
Single Object/Multiple Objects
Choose to export as a single object or multiple objects.
Choose to export vertex (points of mesh) of sewn pattern parts as multiple objects or a single point.
Choose to export the object with thickness or not.
Combined UV Coordinates A combined UV coordinates is also exported. Include Internal Shape Export with internal line and/or shape information (ver 2.3). Scale Scale the exported object's size. Axis Conversion Change directions of object's each axis.
Export colorway along with the *.obj file.
Maintain Individual Texture Image Coordinates Each colorway is exported individually as *.obj and *.mtl files (ver 5.1). Share Texture Image Coordinates All colorways are exported as a single *.obj and as many *.mtl files as colorways. Save with Absolute Texture Image File Path
Export OBJ to the original file's saving path.
※Note: When there is not image file at the original path, it may get lost as this option only saves the path.
Save with Texture Files (ZIP) Export OBJs along with textures. Diffuse Color Combined on Texture When color is applied to the texture, the color is blended into the texture when exporting (ver 4.2). Exclude Ambient Map & Color (Modo) Ambient Map and color are excluded when exporting (ver 4.2). Save with Transparency Map Extracted from Diffuse Map Alpha Map is included when exporting (ver 4.2). Save with Meta Data(XML) Exports garment's patter(Mesh), physical property and sewing information as Meta Data (ver 2.3).
Combine and save garment's texture image and color as a single image (ver 2.2).
